#5 Women Artists: Celebrating Women’s History Month

My celebration of Women’s History Month includes my participation in the National Museum of Women in the Arts challenge Can you name 5 women artists? Throughout the month of March, I have attended events, named 5 women artists #5womenartists on social media platforms, and frequented museums in my area to further my appreciation of the visual expression by women, especially the collective voices of American women and feminist artists.

For 2019 #5WomenArtists Challenge, I name the following artists
#LouiseNevelson #LilyMartinSpencer #ElainedeKooning #HelenFrankenthaler #NanGoldin

As a newer blogger in the visual arts, I want to be a part of the conversation in sharing the ways the production of artworks by women can shape your life in more meaningful ways, and to bring awareness to a broader audience the “feminine” experience in the visual arts. All blogs through the month of March will be dedicated to American women artists; I will include a short biography, one specific work of art I feel most connected with, web links and museums you can view and experience their visual vision, and for some blog posts a link to a podcast episode from Beyond the Paint. 🙂

I encourage you to visit the National Museum of Women in the Arts website to learn more about #5 Women Artist challenge, browse their permanent collection and check out their programming. Be a part of the celebration of women! (Image credit:NMWA, Elaine de Kooning, “Bacchus #3” https://nmwa.org
