National Museum of Women in the Arts recognized “Beyond the Paint Podcast” in their list of recommended podcasts to listen to about women artists. (2020)

Bernadine Franco is an educator and art interpreter fascinated by the influence of women artists and female patrons on the story of Western art. My goal is to introduce, engage and bring awareness to female visual artists and their feminine perspective. It is through their work and practice, we are exposed to the astonishing beauty of women’s inner lives.

Bernadine’s media are writing, speaking in-person art talks/lectures, her podcast Women at the Helm: Intersection of Women Artists and Writing (formerly Beyond the Paint with Bernadine podcast) and thoughtfully designed, personalized tours of collections at local art museums and galleries. In 2023, Bernadine is on a new venture, crafting a memoir about the impact of the visual arts in her life.

Whether you are an art-lover, feminist, history-nerd, or lifelong learner, female imagery by women can shape you to see and experience the visual world in new and daring ways.
