Founder of Less Than Half Salon and my friend Hall Rockefeller publishes a blog post series focused on collecting women artists. In March, I was a guest blogger. In my short essay, “How to See,” I share that collecting art is a means of self-expression.
The image in this post, the body print, “Tribute to Hannah Hoch,” by the contemporary artist Sally Brown immerses me with somersaults of color. The work’s title carries inspiration from one of my favorite artists, collagist Hannah Hoch. Surrounding myself with contemporary works supports women, but it also gives pleasure and inspires beauty to my days.

Hall was a guest on my podcast, Beyond the Paint with Bernadine. An art historian, writer and speaker, Hall leads your gaze and awareness to the “unsung heroines” of the visual world.
In our conversation from 2021, we discuss Less Than Half Salon, a growing community of “thoughtful, supportive artists, curators, gallerists, collectors and art lovers.” It is a very engaging space!
